Please note the "NO WARRANTY" clauses in the license.
The sources contain a binary part in the form of praat,
praatcon.exe, libpraat.so
and libpraat.dll. Instructions are provided how to compile them yourself from the
vanilla praat sources using GCC or MingW32. Old releases can be found in our
releases directory. The sources should compile on all
platforms Praat and GTK are available on, including FreeBSD and MacOSX.
However, we currently lack both the resources and the expertice to create
binaries for other platforms. We do welcome any help in this area.
Currently we are working on support for the installation of the program
in the home directory of the user. Or to be more specific, the wordlists
are stored in the homedir, but the program can be shared. See our latest
beta releases. In paralel we are working on shrinking down the praat
library and reducing the need to have Motif installed (Linux).
Totally new version :), we are at 0.5 now.
We still have issues with Microsoft Windows related to the praat library.
The current version for Windows uses the old compatibility patch.
Next to that we have fixed some bugs, and added some new features, shuffle for example.
Windows now can install their SGC installation anywhere. Also provided is the new program Singleword
Betareleases
We are producing betareleases containing x86 Windows and Linux binaries those can be found:
http://www.speakgoodchinese.org/beta/
these releases are especially interesting
for Linux users who don't want to compile SpeakGoodChinese or Praat themselves.
Currently the Linux version depends on
Glade,
Gtk+ and
libzip.
Which should be installed on your distribution.
Please note: the Windows beta version has not yet been tested!
SpeakGoodChinese worked on all computers running Microsoft Windows XP we tested it on. However, we understand that some users have experienced problems with SpeakGoodChinese. On some, "random", Microsoft Windows XP installations the SpeakGoodChinese program is reported not to work. We currently have not enough information to allow us to update SpeakGoodChinese to prevent such problems. But the following workaround was posted by Roddy on the SpeakGoodchinese thread on www.chinese-forums.com
Sadly, this workaround seems to be unavailable on MS Vista.
The SpeakGoodChinese sources are also available directly from our Git repository at http://repo.or.cz/w/sgc.git
